RECREATION MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Job Title:              Recreation Maintenance Mechanic

Salary:                  $18.00 hourly

SUMMARY: This position assists in all duties of maintenance to ensure that all equipment is fully operational, well maintained and neat in appearance. Primary responsibility is at the Adventure Center & Bike Park, however continued training may take place on the mountain mechanics and support may be needed for Hope Lake Park & Campground operations periodically.  Must be at least 18 years old with weekend availability and a drivers license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned)

  1. Assists in the preventative maintenance program for the lifts, rides, equipment, structures & grounds on the resort on a daily, weekly, monthly, bi-annual, annual and as-needed basis.
  2. Maintains all record keeping of work performed.
  3. Provides a safety-oriented environment for employees and participants.
  4. Reports to the Manager on Duty any safety issues that may require immediate attention.
  5. Actively engages with guests to assist in the overall objective of fun and recreation.
  6. Provides guests with appropriate information, verbal or written, upon request to promote excellent customer service. Respond to complaints to ensure satisfaction.
  7. Is proactive and looks out for any unhappy guests. Uses initiative to solve issues and leave customers feeling valued.
  8. Greets and speaks with guests in a professional, friendly manner.
  9. Attends departmental and all employee meetings as required.
  10. Participates in 3rd party inspections as needed.
  11. Performs seasonal corrective maintenance.
  12. Assists in new construction of resort upgrades and additions as needed. Performs special projects and assignments as directed.
  13. Follows established resort policies and safety procedures.
  14. Maintain a clean, pleasant, and professional image to guests, and employees.
  15. Provides assistance to other areas of the department and resort to contribute to its smooth operation. May be cross-trained to perform other duties/job functions in the recreation department.
  16. Supervises and mentors other staff including all Mountain Coaster, Snow Tubing & Bike Park Lift Operators, serving as role model and helping to provide feedback and evaluation on their performance.
  17. Responsible for the timely ordering of supplies utilizing the Purchase Order system. Maintains appropriate par levels to ensure smooth operations.
  18. Assists with training where applicable and completes appropriate documentation accordingly.
  19. Assists with supporting front lines during operations as needed.
  20. Reports to the Manager on Duty during all operations to ensure smooth operations.
  21. Properly communicates any special event needs in a timely and respectful manner.
  22. Complies with all state and federal laws, company policies and procedures.
  23. Ensure manufacturer’s recommended operating and safety procedures are followed.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a NYS Driver’s License.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two-year related experience in the mechanic field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The candidate must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATH ABILITY:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

Candidate should have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office with basic trouble shooting knowledge of technical issues.
