CARPENTER – HOPE LAKE LODGE

Salary:                   $20 – $24 hourly (experience based)

SUMMARY: We are looking for a full-time skilled Carpenter to join our team. This position will collaborate with our Lodge Operations Managers on a variety of renovation projects in our hotel suites and public spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials. This position will work 10-hour shifts Monday – Thursday. Must have a valid driver’s license.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Measure, cut, shape, and install wood, composite, or other materials for projects such as cabinetry, trim, molding, doors, windows, and other custom work.
  • Measure, cut, install, finish, and paint sheetrock.
  • Ensure all measurements and cuts are precise to avoid errors and material waste.
  • Install baseboards, molding, casing, and other millwork elements.
  • Repair cabinetry and furniture
  • Repair or refurbish existing woodwork and finishings.
  • Sand, stain, and finish wood surfaces to ensure a polished, high-quality appearance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and design specifications to ensure accurate work.
  • Collaborate with Lodge Operations Managers to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Maintain and properly care for tools and equipment.
  • Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proven experience as a Finish Carpenter or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and tools.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, designs, and drawings.
  • Excellent knowledge of wood properties, carpentry materials, and building codes.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Familiarity with power tools and hand tools such as saws, sanders, drills, and measuring devices.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two-year related experience in the construction field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The candidate must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid Driver’s License

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push and pull up to 30 pounds.
