Greek Peak Mountain Resort Announced as the Winner of “I AM a Snowmaker” Video Competition
February 7, 2024
CORTLAND, New York (February 7, 2024) – The votes are in, nearly 12,000 in all, and Greek Peak Mountain resort was announced as the winner of this year’s “I AM a Snowmaker” video contest brought to you by Ski Area Management (SAM) Magazine and HKD Snowmakers. The announcement came last night at the NSAA’s Eastern Winter Conference in Mount Snow, Vermont, and Greek Peak was one of eight resorts across North America with representatives there, waiting to hear how well their “day in the life” video captured the hard work and dedication of their snowmaking teams. Despite some much larger mountains and operations being in the mix for the title this year, in the end, it was Greek Peak that came out on top.
According to Wes Kryger, president of Greek Peak Mountain Resort, to be chosen to compete in this year’s contest was an honor, but to come out on top with votes speaks volumes to Greek Peak’s guests, who are not only passionate about well-maintained terrain but are equally passionate about supporting the Greek Peak snow-making team in their efforts.
“Without question, snowmakers are the heart and soul of our snow sports operation,” said Kryger. “Our guests recognize that hard work and dedication just as clearly as they can see the new equipment out on the slopes.”
Kryger added, “This is an exciting win to hang our hats on and really affirms and celebrates the advancements we have made in our own snow-making efforts over the past several years. It is truly something the entire Greek Peak team and our guests can take great pride in.”
The Greek Peak snowmaking team consists of 24 individuals who play a crucial role in creating and maintaining the ski slopes during the winter season. Their combined 65+ years of work experience and knowledge are essential for ensuring consistent snow coverage, even in the challenging Central New York weather conditions.
For their winning efforts, HKD will host the Greek Peak team at its Canadian headquarters in Quebec City, Quebec, for two days of education and entertainment, where they will be given the opportunity to dive deep into HKD’s best-selling products and learn how to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and safely operate HKD equipment.
Other competing mountains from this year’s competition included: Bretton Woods (NH), Cataloochee Ski Area (NC), Copper Mountain (CO), Gore Mountain (NY), Mammoth Mountain (CA), Panorama (BC, Canada), and Waterville Valley (NH).
